With over thirty-five years of management experience in development and education sector, Ahmed Farooq Bazai is well-known name with proven track record of exceptional achievement, ability and skills to build, motivate, provide intellectual leadership, strategic guidance and lead a team of professionals. He has been the Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University of IT, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) from the past 10 years. BUITEMS under his visionary leadership has achieved extra-ordinary results and has been ranked 4th by HEC in IT and Computer Science category nationally. Previously, he has worked with The World Bank, UNICEF and SMEDA in top-level positions. Farooq Bazai is visionary leader with strong organizational and leadership skills in developing conceptual and tactical strategies to strengthen organizations, including inspiring others to address significant challenges. He extensive experience of policy dialogue with the Government, Semi Government, Private sector Organizations and International Agencies and supervising the work of NGO’s and Consultants. He is guru of Rights-Based Approaches and Results-Based Management. He has received numerous awards in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of education including international Socrates Award, Visionary Leader Award, The Name of Science Award, Education Leadership Award, Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education and Sitara-e-Imtiaz to name just few.

A visionary and forward looking university advancement/ development leader, ready to offer 10+ years of experience streamlining operations over a wide range of areas like university advancement/ development, business incubation management, fundraising, alumni relations, students’ financial assistance, executive education, communication and outreach, career services and project management. As a development and project management specialist, he has raised more than PKR 1.5 billion through different projects and has managed various multi-hundred million projects. He is founder and director of BUITEMS Business Incubation and Entrepreneurship Center (BBIEC), the first and only Business Incubator in Balochistan established in 2014 and successfully graduating 9 startup firms that have collectively created 60+ jobs and generated a revenue of more than PKR 45 million. Muhammad Shah Khan has a proven record of innovation and result-orientation through strategic focus closely mirroring organizational needs and resource optimization.

Nisar Ahmed has successfully written various research papers focused on entrepreneurship hitherto. He is more a strategy expert devoted in supporting new startups and small businesses grow. Over the years, Nisar has been supportive in providing crucial business consulting and direction services to startups and assists them in business plan development and reviews, product development activities, financial assistance and product commercialization support.

For the past few years, he has worked in graduating 37 startups out of 52, having created 500+ direct and indirect jobs, with investment of PKR 18.7 Million. He has a certification in Business Incubation Management from the University of Queensland, Australia. Presently Nisar is enrolled in PhD program. Mr. Nisar is also co-owner of a firm dealing in imports of auto parts. He is also Certified UN consultant on supplier development program which is mandated to work with SMEs on their value chains.

Yumna previously has worked as Manager Business Incubator at BUITEMS for three years. She functions to devise plans for how to spread an entrepreneurial culture, identify and select potential startups, and conduct incubation activities. Her professional achievements include; raised a grant of Rs. 600 million to establish National Incubation Center (NIC) Quetta, organized First International Conference on Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion, graduated 37 startups in 3 years creating 234+ direct and indirect jobs, raised a grant of Rs. 14 Million from Karandaaz to support women led businesses in Balochistan and raised investment of Rs. 18.7 million for 14 businesses led by women in Balochistan.

 

Academically, Yumna is currently doing post-graduation in Entrepreneurship at BUITEMS. She also has been “Leadership Activist for South Asia Local Coordinator Program”, and earning a certification on “Customer Analytics” from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She has proudly represented BUITEMS at many national and international platforms, and has been titled the best essayist. She also is serving as Sub Editor and blogger since 2011. Along with her professional services at NIC Quetta, Yumna wants to explore more about entrepreneurial development nationally and internationally. She has a firm credence that entrepreneurship is preeminent to unravel problems persisting especially in Pakistan.

Rehmat Ullah Khan has worked as Manager Business and Financial Services at BBIEC for 3 years and in other national organizations in various departments including, Finance and Operations.

Rehmat is Fellow of Charles Wallace Trust in Social Enterprise Academy Scotland awarded by British Council Pakistan and HEC Scholar under the project titled “Provisions of Higher Education opportunities to the students of Balochistan and FATA”. He was one of the top Student Entrepreneur of CM Pak Zong Ltd. in Pakistan during the third quarter of 2010.  Rehmat is an entrepreneur and has a vast knowledge of national and international business practices.

Sadia is serving as Community Associate at NIC Quetta. she has served in different sectors for 13 years, Sadia joined BUITMS Business Incubation and Entrepreneurship Center (BBIEC) as liaison officer in 2015. She possesses broad knowledge over the projects of non-governmental organizations designed especially for entrepreneurship development. Before joining BUITEMS, she has worked at Water, Environment & Sanitation Society (WESS) Quetta, Iqra University, Quetta and others. Sadia possesses Masters Degree in International Relations previously, and is pursuing Masters of Business Administration at BUITEMS.

Wasif Tanveer Khan received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2005, the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA in 2010 and 2014, respectively. Wasif is presently serving as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the School of Science and Engineering and is also the Director at the Microelectronics Research Lab and Convener of the Industry Liaison Committee. Over a span of two years, Wasif established a world class Research Facility and Microelectronics Research group and secured more than 0.5 million USD of Research projects and funding from international companies, including, Sony, GmbH and EBE GmbH and national organisations including, Air Force and NESCOM, etc.

Wasif has led projects related to the development of Advanced Embedded Wafer Level packaging, development of RF Front End of Software Defined Radio, Design and Development of GPS Interference Suppression System, Wireless Power Transfer, Energy Harvesting from RF ambient sources for battery-less IoT Wireless Sensors, Power Amplifier Design, 24 and 60 gHz Radar Sensor Antennas for consumer electronics and Automotive operations, Ultra-wide-bank spiral antennas, etc.

From January 2006 to December 2008, he was a Lecturer with the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences-FAST, Lahore, Pakistan. In 2009, he joined Professor John Papapolymerou’s research group “Microwave Circuit Technology” at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Suleiman Shahid is a PhD in Human Computer Interaction from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. He also has a Professional Doctorate in Engineering – User System Interaction program from Eindhoven University of Technology from the Netherlands. He did his MSc in Media Computing from RWTH Aachen University of Technology, Aachen, Germany. Presently Salman is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Science in the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering in LUMS.

Salman has worked in various projects locally and internationally, such as, AMIGO – Ambient Intelligence for the Networked Home Environment, EMODE – Enabling Model Transformation Based Cost Efficient Adaptive Multimodal User interface, PAISON – Psychologically Augmented Social Interaction Over Networks Project and worked as a team member on the EU funded WearIT@Work project – An integrated project in the sixth framework programme of the European Union. He is a member of IEEE, Usability Professional Association, CHI Netherlands, International Society of Research on Emotions and Interaction Design Association (IxDA).

Mr. Almas Hyder, CEO, SPEL Group (B.Sc. Eng. UET) is a renowned entrepreneur. He has setup several companies manufacturing packaging and engineering products, as well as trading companies. The companies have developed technologies for parts of auto and off road vehicles, which are finding markets both locally and in the first world.

Mr. Hyder has also served many public organizations at senior positions, including CEO, Engineering Development Board, GoP; Founder Chairman, Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company; Chairman, Steering Committee for Engineering Vision 2012; Chairman, TQM Bureau; first President of Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate Board; Chairman, Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre. He is on the Board of many public bodies, including Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA); Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF); Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Go Punjab; National Transmission and Despatch Company, Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation; Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company; National Steering Committee on TQM & Productivity, Planning Commission of Pakistan; Federal Export Board; Advisory Council of the Ministry of Commerce.

He is also on the Board of several public academic institutions, including Academic Council of GC University, Lahore, Advanced Studies & Research Board, University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore. He is currently the Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is a Certified Entrepreneurship Development consultant has conducted several programs on Entrepreneurship Development.

Mr. Uzair Ahson is currently a Faculty Member (Assistant Professor since 2008), Department of Economics at the GC University in Lahore and is also a Resource Person and Lead Trainer for various Entrepreneurship Development Workshops. He is a Lead Trainer of the ‘Entrepreneurship Training Workshop’ organised by TEVTA in Punjab. He is also a Resource person in, ‘Enterprise growth Skills: An Application of Strategic Management Process for Entrepreneurs’ under GCU Lahore and-Cranfield University, UK.

Uzair is also the Program Coordinator of MS Entrepreneurship and SME management at GC University Lahore and Lead Facilitator of the Active Citizens Programme.

Previously, he was a Resource person in a series of workshops on ‘Building Sustainable Research Networks’ under HEC Islamabad and British Council Pakistan. He has published Journal Articles for the SME sector and has been a regular contributor in The Nation regarding the development of the SMEs and the role they play in Economic Development. He has also co-authored Conference papers regarding innovation and revolution in various SME Clusters. As a consultant, he has contributed in some major World Bank Projects regarding the Trade and development of specific SME clusters.
